Setup A Powerline Network

Networking your computers at home is both fun an deducational, especially if you use both PCs in business,
school,or hobby. Here we see how to connect computers
together with the use of the power line wires.

INSTALL THE NETWORK INTERFACE CARDS

We first installed our
Network Interface Cards or NICs in the system unit. The computers are turned off and the cover is carefully removed.
We then located an empty expansion bay to install the card.

New network Interface Cards must be installed in the PCI Slot.PCI or Peripheral Component Internet is the faster data path that allows the
computer to communicate to the device.Older computers were equipped with the slower EIDE or Enhanced Interface Serial bus.

After removing the system unit cover, ground yourself by touching the computer case or a doorknob to remove any electrical static charge.
Grasp the card and carefully and firmly slide the card in the PCI slot. This procedure must be done on all computers in the network.

If opening your computer bothers you, there is the option to purchase the USB or Universal Serial Bus NIC Card. This card is inserted into
the USB port on your computer.

CONNECT THE CAT-5 CABLES

Check and double check the NIC cards for proper installation. Now you can replace the covers of the system units, and connect all
peripherals such as the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Connect the Cat-5 Cble by inserting one end into the network interface card at the rear of the computer.Connect the other end into the
Wall Plugged Ethernet Bridge. You will need one Cat-5 Cabe for each computer.

INSTALL THE ETHERNET BRIDGE

Locate an free wall outlet near your computer and insert the Wall Bridge into that socket. The Bridge indicator light should light up.
After ensuring all Bridges are inserted in the closest outlet, and the cables are connected, you are now ready to boot the computer.

Boot the computers and the operating system should recognise the new hardware. When prompted to do so,insert the NIC cdrom first
into the cdrom drive to install the device drivers. This small software talks to the computer and the card.

SETUP THE NEWTORK

Next setup the network using the Windows Network Setup.Simply follow the instructions on the screen to setup the network on each PC.
Check each setup
by attempting to share files on each computer.

You can share other peripherals such as your printer or scanner with all computers on the network.Decide which computer will have
Internet Access and you will be able to access the Internet from either computer.

Its that simple.Should you decide to invest in Powerline Networks, you will get rid of most wires used in normal networks. You won't need
the assistance of the Network Hub,Switch,or Router. You will enjoy the idea that you can share files, internet, and peripherals with any
computer in your home.
