PC Speedup
By Hardware Removal
When Windows bootup it often runs software in the background
which cause the boot process to slow down and at times will
come to a crawl.
Besides running software utilities that may be needed later
behind the scenes, there may also be some of those rather
harmful software files be loaded as well. These harmful files
were downloaded from the internet without you realizing it.
FIRST,REMOVE ANNOYING SOFTWARE
As you surf the Web,you will eventually download programs
that will contain both Adware and Spyware that will run on
your system sending unwanted advertisements in the form
of popups.Spyware is just that.It simply spys on the activity
and data on your computer.
You will certainly want to remove any and all adware and
spyware from your computer by using such utilities as
Spy Nuker and others that you should be able to download
and try free.
NEXT,DISABLE UNUSED HARDWARE
Another way to boost startup speeds of your computer is
by disabling hardware that you may not be needing soon.
Any hardware installed and operating on your computer
requires power,memory,and processor attention.Getting
rid of these devices you won't use immediately can
speed up your computer.
Such hardware devices as your broadband network
adapters,that Fax Modem,your parallel ports,that you
seldom use can be disabled by using hardware profiles.
With hardware profiles, you can disable either device or
disable them as a group.Disabling these devices should
be done only if you rarely use them.
To create a hardware profile, right click My Computer and
select choose Properties. Then click the hardware tab and
the Hardware Profiles button.Select the current hardware
profile and click Copy and OK.
You will create a new profile by coping the old one and to
make the profile the default, use the arrows at the right of
the dialog box to move it to the top of the list.
To disable hardware in the profile, right click My Computer
and choose Properties.Click the Hardware Tab and then
Device Manager.Simply right click the device you want
to disable in Device Manager and choose Disable.
Should you notice any hardare in the System Devices
category, take care not to disable any.Take care to
either jot down or remember whatever changes you
make inside the Device Manager.
Another cause of slow bootup is the possibility of you
running out of hard drive space. You should run Disk
Cleanup in Windows to get rid of the many files that
has been left over from other applications.
If you're using Windows,be sure to have your boot
disk handy just in case something goes wrong. If your
operating system is Windows XP,learn how to make
